Day 1:
6th April (Sat)
Welcome Night/Dinner Talk
Theme: Enchanting Pastels

Back by popular demand, we will be combining food, games, and talks all in one night. How’s that for incorporating fun and fellowship into learning! Come dressed in your favourite pastel colours (think Spring and Easter – it is April after all) and be prepared for lots of laughing and mingling during the first portion of the evening.

For the second portion of the evening, talks by TWO insightful speakers, not to be missed:

1.      Amelia Inbam: “Say It Right” – This speech language pathologist from SWEPA will be teaching you vocal and breathing techniques for better speech articulation – the secrets to speaking more clearly and confidently!
2.      Sivakumar Kumaresan: “Speaking With Heart – The Energy Connection” – Our very own seasoned Toastmaster will share with you how to be authentic when speaking, setting intentions, and projecting energy – the secrets to connecting with your audience emotionally and mentally!

7th April (Sun)
Division K International Speech & Table Topics Contest

The highlight of the convention! Come to support and root for your fellow Toastmasters as six Area representatives compete for the coveted championship trophy and a place at the District Contest in Sibu come May 2013.

From Us to Emily Tan


We are deeply saddened by the sudden death of  Emily Tan on 6th October 2012.
We proud to have known such a dedicated Toastmasters in the District.
Our prayers and thoughts are with her and with those she left behind.
She will be sadly miss. May her soul rest in peace..

Division K, Semi Annual Convention 2012

It’s that time of the year again for Division K Semi Annual Convention!
Date: 27 & 28 October 2012, Saturday & Sunday
Venue: Carnation Room, Hotel Shangri-La, Bandaran Berjaya, Kota Kinabalu

This convention is going to be one of a kind for a number of reasons:

Dinner Talk
No afternoon Workshop sessions for this convention. We are marrying the standard Welcome Night and Workshop to create an interactive Dinner Talk instead.
Learn from these two distinguished speakers:
1. District 87 Governor, Richard Albert Gontusan DTM, “So You Think You Can Be Humorous”.
2. District 87 Public Relations Officer, Rozana Yunus ACG CL, “Effective Speech Evaluations”.

Entertainment with a Twist
YOU will be part of the entertainment team. No, don’t be freaked out! No singing and dancing on stage required. We have lined up fun interactive activities throughout the evening.
Caution: There will be a lot of mingling and laughing involved.

Greetings from the DvPRO Desk,

On 7th August 2012, I believe every members in the family should have received an email all the way from the state, reminding us on what to do and deadlines for the month. This is one way for TI to help remind us on urge task due to our day to day hectic schedule. 

Worry NOT, I am not going to repeat everything from the email to bored everyone to sleep. I just wanted to hand pick what is relevant to the club & division to help keep track of what's concern us. Here goes (Obviously I am copy & pasting):

Division & Area Governor News

Club Officer Training by August 31   
Clubs whose officers regularly attend training are more successful.That's why twice-annual club officer training is one of the Distinguished Club Program goals. Please complete the first round of training by August 31, and submit reports through District Central by September 30.

Division and Area Governors Training Report Due September 30
Please submit your Division and Area Governors Training Report bySeptember 30 to meet the prerequisite for the Distinguished District Program.

Area Governors: Support Your Clubs Through Visits
Each district must establish and maintain positive, supportive relationships with their clubs. Area governors play a critical role in creating this relationship through club visits, which are required twice a year. To meet one of the qualifying requirements of the District Recognition Program, please submit an Area Governor's Club Visit Report (Item 1471) for at least 75 percent of the clubs in your area. Please begin visiting clubs, and use Serving Clubs Through Visits: A Guide for Area Governors (Item 219) to help you prepare for an effective visit.

Clubs: Show Off Your Brand
The first of six winners of the "Clubs: Show Off Your Brand!" contest will receive worldwide recognition this month! Take a photo of your club members with your newly branded Toastmasters materials and email the photo to brand@toastmasters.org by the end of August for your chance to win. Is Your Club Difficult to Find?
Help prospective members find your meeting by updating your club information onlineConfirm that your club's meeting location and contact information is current, and include a regularly monitored phone number and email address.

Assign Your Club Proxy 
Toastmasters clubs hold the most important voting power in the organization. In May, proxies for the Annual Business Meeting at the International Convention were emailed to all 2011-2012 club presidents and secretaries. New club officers: Please make sure your club has decided who will carry your club's vote at the meeting. District governors: Please encourage club leaders to designate their proxies.

Public Relations Training Webinar
Toastmasters International will hold a live webinar for public relations officers and vice presidents public relations on September 18, 19 and 20. The informative session will provide helpful tips on how to create and communicate the latest news about Toastmasters to your audience. More information will follow.

It's Time for the Smedley Contest
Help your clubs prepare for this year's round of the original membership-building contest named in honor of Toastmasters' founder, Ralph C. Smedley. The Smedley Award competition started August 1 and ends September 30. For more information and contest rules, visit www.toastmasters.org/
